Good morning fellow bloggers!!
I thought I would start todays blog off with 2 questions that have surfaced in my life in the last week. 1) How many activities are TOO many activities for kids today and 2) When to let them "quit"?
The first question surfaced with both my eldest son, James David, and my daughter, Michaelah. Michaelah is in cheerleading right now, which is pretty time consuming itself! Of course, I am approaching this question from the standpoint also that I have FOUR kids, THREE of whom are extremely active! Michaelah wanted to join dance again this year also. More money (which is a whole other issue), more practices, more commitments! I put my foot down and said cheerleading was enough for now...when it was over we would find something else to do! How would you handle it if you were in my shoes?
This also leads me to my son James David....who is a freshman in high school this year. He has played football all through Junior High and was also in band. This year he chose to do only band and NO football! I was heartbroken at first! I was sooo looking forward to those friday night lights!! But, we had several long talks about it and he thought both would be too much and wanted to do just band this year. He has also told me too that he wants to join theater and try out for the fall production and One Act Play! When he told me that I realized one thing...he is MY son after all!! He is sooo following in my footsteps. So, I gave him a hug and said I was proud of him for making a grown up decision and supported him 100%! I would still be enjoying those friday night lights....and the halftime show is going to rock! In the end, he does still want to play sports...just not football. This year he plans on playing basketball and golf...and possibly baseball. He is old enough to make his own decisions for sure! I guess I need to remember that one......
So, how do YOU make decisions like these in your home?? I am really looking forward to some input on this one as this is something I struggle with everytime the seasons/sports change.
until we blog again!!!

Crazy Weekend, Manic Monday, and Diet Disasters!!!
Good Morning everyone!! Happy Manic Monday to you all!
So, how was everyone's weekend? Ours was crazy, as usual! Saturday was the BBQ for Michaelah's belated bday party and basically to celebrate the kids being home from their dad's for over a month! My best friend as a teenager, Cindy, showed up with her 3 kids. We had the BEST visit!! We hadn't seen each other in YEARS and had NEVER met each other's children. It was great to reconnect! Thank you Cindy for coming! We will have to do that again soon =)
Saturday was both a success and an EPIC fail...LOL! Michaelah was upset more people didn't show up (everyone had SOMETHING going on Saturday it turns out!!!)...that is just how it goes when trying to plan things like that! She ended up a happy camper though. Her uncle Kolby was here as were ALL the neighborhood kiddos, along with Cindy's 3 kiddos...so in the end, she was happy...and then, so was I!
Sunday was a lazy day for the most part! Hell, here it is monday morning and dishes are still sitting in the kitchen from Saturday! LOL! Yeah...lazy sunday indeed! The little ones played outside and even THEY were complaining how hot it was! We watching most of the NASCAR race which got red flagged towards the end, then postponed due to light rain...so we gave up, loaded up, and headed to Port Lavaca Beach! I had never been there before, but I must say...it is a very family/kid friendly place to go! I have to be careful when I do things like that since I am ONE person trying to keep up with FOUR kids going FOUR different directions! This beach has MY vote! Especially for Dakotah...the soft sand bottom and shallow water made for a reallyyyy good time for him!!! All in all, we had a fabulous weekend!!
Now, to manic monday! Today James David starts 2 a day band practices!! I am so proud of him! I finally relented and let him out of football...if he really didn 't want to play...there was no sense in trying to talk him into it!! How does everyone else handle situations like this? He oculd be sooo good if he would just put his mind to it!! ugh!! But, he wants to play basketball, golf, and baseball...so we will go with that! Jaxon's football practice starts tonight at 6:30pm, and goes every day this week but wednesday and Michaelah's cheer practice starts tomorrow at 6:00pm, for which I am one of the coaches this year! I have never done anything with cheerleading...so I am both SUPER excited and SCARED to death at the same time!!! LOL! We will see how it goes!!!
GOALS FOR TODAY!!
Hmmmmmm...what ARE my goals for today?? What are YOUR goals for today??
I need to make several phone calls I know, clean house as I start sitting for a friend of mine's son tomorrow too, buy some groceries, set up chore lists for the kids and myself....and OH!! Get back ON my diet and exercise plan!!! I have managed to only gain back 3 lbs of the 21 that I lost...but I am seeing the inches just grow back =( I am back on my Alli pills (so no more cheating!!!), will probably start running again in the morning after JD gets home from morning band practice, maybe working out to one of the exercise videos I have (that are still IN the wrappers!! LOL)
What diet plan are you following?? Exercise plan?? Let's do this together! After all, isn't that the idea behind this blog to begin with?? YES, yes indeed it is...this blog is for other single mom, college student, have too damn many kids, cancer survivors/fighters, dieters...or anyone else that just wants a good laugh....to realize, we are NOT ALONE!!!!
